x2 ... I'd be willing to pay extra if I could take the dog into a heated pool. His joints bother him sometimes, and I think having a nice weightless swim might be soothing. - colliehaulerExplorer III

I stand corrected, just thought of gas stations and their price includes taxes. We have taxes on groceries :M. Cars you are correct about the phrase plus taxes, but the price they put on the windshield does not have it included. Motel's I'm talking about the price on the sign outside (advertise price) does not include taxes. I expect taxes to be added, very seldom are taxes included in advertised price.colliehauler wrote:

I have never seen tax added to anything that was advertised for sale. Cars, groceries, motels, ect. Why would campgrounds be any different?
I full time and what I have found is almost none of them add the tax for the CG rate on their website and/or signage.
So depending what state you are in will depict what extra in that department you will pay.
First time I parked in a CG in Florida the guy started adding the tax THEN he goes to line two and starts adding 'another' tax. Whoa back up the bus! Thought the guy was adding a little bit for himself.
Come to find out Florida has a bed tax.
Yup, the CG has NO beds to offer, but you are required to pay a bed tax at a CG. :R
For what its worth here is google's "policy" on advertising and taxes.

Cars are mandated to include the phrase "plus tax, title etc" under every advertised price.
Motels, vacation packages, use the term "inclusive" which means tax included. Not inclusive means tax not included in rate.
Groceries? Where I live there are NO taxes on groceries! :B:W
I have absolutely no problem paying taxes as I travel. Taxes are what funds and fuels the towns and cities I visit. It's a necessity.
The bed tax originally intended for motels IMHO, JMHO has no business being applied to a CG. Just saying. - jake2250ExplorerIt depends on what kind of extra stuff? Years ago we stayed at a lake side campground, we opted to be in the free roaming area (cheaper), only thing was you had to provide a fire ring or some way to contain your fire, they offered rental of a fire ring for $5, it wound up being a metal washing machine drum.
First time I used one!
We loved it and use one still!!

We stay in farm pastures not campgrounds :p; I almost took a picture (for you all) of the gypsy camp we were in last weekend at a sheepdog trial. We did go to a campground twice last year; paid to use their dump station (dogs never left the van). - CroweExplorerMy dogs have ZERO impact on a campground.
I disagree. Unless they never leave the unit and you give them only water you've provided from home there is an impact, however small. Even if you pick up after them if they've urinated it will kill grass/plants that may need to be replaced. If you use a provided exercise area there's the impact of dog feet plus maintenance on the area. If they bark (and if you aren't with them 7x24 you don't know for certain unless they can't bark) then the potential impact is someone leaving because of the noise. Zero impact? Nope. Minimal impact? Maybe. - rockhillmanorExplorer II

Yes, that is the exact purpose of taxes. I may never use the local ambulance service. My house may never catch on fire and need the fire department. There are roads in town I will never drive on. I won't ever play basketball on the local playground. I don't have kids, so I have no use for the schools. Yet, I pay taxes for all those things. And that is only at the local level. Then you repeat the process at the county, state and federal levels. It is the way things work.
Yes, taxes can be a mess ... and hardly cheap. Basically, it boils down to local communities charging taxes above and beyond the state sales taxes. In crude terms, it means that the locals are financing their public facilities on the backs of the visitors -- who may or may not ever use those facilities.
