Update on Rowdy

She's about 8 months old now, a small to medium size kitten. She has slowed down on her nipping but still surprises on occasion.

Two weeks ago I got some unsettling news about my health, I decided I needed to make plans for Rowdy. There is a young family in my complex whose little girl always plays with her thru the window. I asked her to bring her Mom by and they had been looking for a kitten. After some discussion it was decided they would adopt her. One of my tougher decisions.

We packed her toys, food and everything else and away she went. It was an extra Xanax night.

Two days later the mother came over and asked me to check on Rowdy. She was hiding most of the time, and shaking or trembling. So Rowdy is back home, back to normal, no trembling and no hiding.
Nice to have her back.

I suppose in a short while I may need to go thru this again, but until then she is safe with me.

  • CA POPPY, That's exactly what I am going to do. I'm okay for now, I may last as long as two years, I sort of over-reacted I think. I knew deep down this was coming.

All my fault, smoking and poor diet while on the road. Thanks again everyone.
  • S0rry about your medical news. We are of the age group to have to think about these things. That nice lady vet you mentioned? Depending on your diagnosis, you might talk to her about someone who does rescue work. Maybe it won't be needed right away, but it would be good to have a plan B.

Little kids run around fast, flap their arms and shriek while they play, all of which can unnerve a cat that was not raised with children. Rowdy might not be the one for that particular child. Hopefully, you don't have to rush into a decision. Good luck to you with all you that you are dealing with.

Good to see she is a happy cat again.
God works in mysterious ways. There 'is' a reason she is back with you. Enjoy her friendship. :C
  • My heartfelt thanks for the well wishes. Rowdy is back with me and back to normal.

I don't have a long term solution but for now all is well.

    Thanks Again, Bob J

Agree that that's not unusual behavior for a cat in a new environment. Probably just have to wait it out. Not easy with a child who is ready to play. Sorry for your troubles; here's hoping for the best for you. Good on you for trying to do the right thing by Rowdy.

Double ditto. Prayers for you both as well.

  • First off, so sorry for the unsettling news about your health. I hope things turn around for you.

Hopefully you will find someone else to adopt your Rowdy. Maybe it was because he wasn't used to children.....maybe if the girl came to your place a few times with Rowdy and then took him to her place for a few hours for a couple days; Rowdy may adjust better.

Hoping for the best for both you and Rowdy....you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted.
  • That's not unusual behavior for a transplanted cat. But I'm glad you took her back and she's safe again.
