Water Dispenser?

We have a cat that's developed the allergy to plastics creating chin acne. Have been searching for a large water dispenser with either a stainless steel or stoneware/ceramic composition instead of the plastic. Would also like one that holds at least 1.5 gallons. Have done a search but on a cell phone the search is a slow one. Can anyone suggest one that meets the criteria?
Stainless/stoneware
At least 1.5 gallon capacity.
  • Try a Tractor Supply store or a farm supply store. Years ago they made waters for animals that just consisted of a bottle (quart, gallon), you filled the contain with water. Then you inverted it over a bowel shaped thing. It would fill the bowl, but would not run over. We used them on our farm to water small animals.

Drinkwell has been around for a long time. That doesn't mean they can't or won't go out of business, of course. But they're probably the top manufacturer of water fountains for pets, and have been for years. I have one of their plastic water fountains that's about seven years old and still works fine. It came with filters but I don't use them. The fountain works just as well w/o them.

Petmate makes a one gallon gravity gravity waterer where the reservoir is plastic but the bowl is stainless steel. Here.

That looks pretty good. So we don't have to use the filters? Good news! Water goes through pvc pipes most of the time so there will be some contact with plastic somewhere but this looks like it might be an good option. Thanks!:C

That looks interesting. They require replacement filters though and I have to wonder how long filters will be available if the company ceases. We don't have the space for multiple steel bowls.

I thought I had seen a gravity fed water dispenser like the plastic Bistro with a 2.5 gal jug inserted into a base only in stoneware. Is that still in existence or even one in stainless steel?

  • DD dog did that too. Buy several SS bowls from any thrift store to use. Cheap solution.
