What a laugh!!

I presently own a cat but before this have had dogs for over 50 years.

I have to say, I'd need a very large stroller. Maybe I need a tiny carriage for the little ones to ride in while the big'uns pull?

Best cure for trollism is the block function. Arguing with people who want nothing more than an argument will never get you anywhere. It just reinforces the bad behavior. Talking to trolls is like giving your dog a treat for peeing on the livingroom floor.

No treats for trolls! Make them be civil before you give them the attention they crave.

It saddens me that many of the posts are mean and off subject. Old-Biscuit, when not travelling in the MH, we do leave our pets at home. However in the MH sometimes we feel it is best to take them with us instead of leaving them unattended at the MH for many hours. Sue Bee, thanks for your post - it is right on!! Weathershak, you are right. We have also found many restaurants that are very happy to have pets.

We have found many store/restaurant owners in the state of Maine more than willing/happy to have pets in their facilities. Who are you to judge - you aren't paying their bills!!!

And yes our pets are our "fur babies." No we don't dress them up, no we don't have a purse we put them in. Yes we leave them at our house more than we take them with us when we are home. However when we are in the MH, we try our best to be kind to our campground neighbors and our pets and make choices accordingly.

One of our dogs is blind so she feels more secure in the stroller when in crowds. We try to accommodate our dogs needs as they get older.

Other than the obvious of the dog potentially being in the way and a distraction, one word: AIRBAG. God forbid you have an accident with your dog on your lap-it will most likely be crushed to death by the force of the airbag.

So true. We have a tendency to go out to dinner early, by 5:30-6:00. Depending on where we go, the restaurant can be loaded with kids. We can choose to go later or we can choose to go to a place that does not cater to kids. I respect the fact not all people are dog lovers. The restaurants that allow pets have very strict rules about where they can and cannot be. If you want to do battle, choose a cause but don't sweat the small stuff. There are plenty of places that don't allow pets.

One of the things about living in a "free" society is that we have to deal with other peoples idea of correct or right. Too often people cop a position and "inflict" that position on others. Is the position that pets are livestock, property, unworthy of human attributes any less an infliction of ideas that the person dressing their poodle as a ballerina and walking through a store?

Our society needs more tolerance. What does it matter if someone is walking down the street with their pets in a stroller or even in a store - as long as they aren't disruptive or dangerous.

Choose your battles, we have so many more important things to worry about.

I'm glad you found an area that is super pet friendly and you had a great time visiting!!

We have large dogs so can't really stroll them, but we do enjoy them and take them to pet places. Their favorite is the dog park on the beach. I'm hoping that camping becomes another one of their favorites :)

The other place our Samoyed loves is when the 4-H club takes the dogs to the retirement home. The kids talk about their dogs, show some of the things they are trained to do and then mingle with the residents. It's great hearing all the pet stories from the residents.
