- GT928ExplorerI will definitely be getting the iPhone X sometime next year. I have a 6S+ now and cannot believe how much better and more useful it is than my old iPhone 4S. We use our iPhones for navigation, photography, video, screen for rear RV camera, texting family and friends, checking and sending email for work or pleasure, camp music through a bluetooth speaker, occasional hotspot, making online reservations at another campsite/restaurant, in short, nearly everything we used to do with a laptop computer. Oh yeah, we make and receive calls as well. So yes I believe the X will be a bigger improvement over existing than my last purchase. I will be buying when the lines die down a bit, say around June.
- northshoreExplorerWe are thinking about getting the X
I didn't realize there were so many people who hated Apple, we started with an Apple iPad Mini and liked it and have continued to buy Apple.
The one thing that really sold us on Apple was their customer service, for example, call "Dish" with any problem, and then call Apple with a problem, our experience was night and day.
When windows 8 came out it proved to be more hassle than fun and we moved on.
I know every one has their preference, just seems like there is too much hate. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIOne word of caution on the I-x... Face recognition lock.
So the cops get your phone.. It's locked (Facial rec) they hold it up to your mug shot.. What happens? (I don't know).

I updated my iPhone 6s Plus today to iOS 11 and it’s pretty fantastic. I’m still learning all the new features.
Thanks!
Hows your battery life? I have a 6, and it has been atrocious. Lasts 6-8hrs and then dead.
How many apps to you have loaded on that phone?
The more apps you cram on a phone the more of your data they use and eat up the battery on your phone. Cause as long as you have the data running when not in use? All your apps are running in the background chewing up data and battery life. Even if you disable your data when you get near a wifi they will come right back on.
So when you clicked yes to download an app and clicked Yes I have read the privacy policy.......you also gave them all the authority to run at will. :W - ctilsie242Explorer IIMy trick is to buy the Apple battery case. I bought one for my 6s last year, and it allowed the phone to last through 18-20 hour teleconferences. iOS 11.0.1 (update came out a few hours ago) isn't bad, although there isn't really much to write home about.
If I buy a new iPhone this year, it will be an 8. The main reason is that the size and form factor work well. The iPhone 10 doesn't appeal to me, especially without a home button and a more awkward way to do Apple Pay confirmations.
There is a balance. When a family member had issues with their phone, and I gave them my 6s, I bought a cheap Android phone, was so unhappy with it, that I bought an iPhone 7. Since I use the phone constantly, paying a premium is understandable. However, there is a difference between buying a useful device and wasting money on stuff that isn't needed. - jerem0621Explorer II

Yesterday morning after the update it was terrible. It’s been better today. I did update my iPad Air 2 as well and have not noticed any degraded battery performance there. I expect an update any day to address this battery isssue.
Thanks!

Apple is the new Ford. The brand people love to hate. :B
And I will probably be getting the iPhone X and passing my 7plus to my daughter.
