- paulcardozaExplorerIMO, the iPhone X was rushed to market, simply to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. While it looks cool and has a few new features, what it doesn't have is more significant, in my opinion.
The original plan was NOT to lose the fingerprint reader, but to redesign it to be part of the display, instead of a separate button as it is now. Losing the fingerprint authentication makes unlocking the phone for certain uses more cumbersome. I firmly believe they left the feature out only because they could not get the technology to work in time for the release.
APPLE PAY for example...... With the iPhone 7 or 8, you simply tap the NFC reader with the phone while your finger is on the home button. DONE.
With the X, you have to double tap the side button, then show the phone your face to unlock, then tap the NFC reader.
I will wait for the XI or XII or whatever the numbering scheme will be, with hopes that they finally do improve the interface to the point where is is at least as easy as my iPhone 7. - joebedfordNomad III'll spend the big bux to get a smartphone when my flip phone breaks.
I'll probably spend at least $40. - Chuck_thehammerExplorerI just got my first smart phone.. a cheap Samsung.. J3 I think

bumpy - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Paul,
Yup. At the time 6 k was one fifth of my gross yearly salary, and one quarter of my take home pay. It cost me about $16 bucks a day for that apple. My computer previous to that was an Everex that cost $1300 and lasted for 6 years.paulcardoza wrote:

Gee whiz, I'd better trash my Galaxy s4 that is four years old and works perfectly. It even survived being dropped in dirty water for ten minutes.
On the other hand, in 1996 I bought a top of the line Mac laptop. Within a year there was a new OS, and I had some software that required what was called "real mode". Even though I had maxed out the ram, the software would not run. Never again will I buy a 6000.00 computer that lasted less than 13 months.
The unit would get static build up on the motherboard and that required me to "zap the pram". Which included a reboot, meaning a loss of data. Sometimes it would not stay running for an hour.
So my experience is the exact opposite of yours.Mortimer Brewster wrote:
Though they are significantly more expensive, I've found Apple products (iPhone, iPad and iMac) to be more reliable when compared with Windows computers and android phones. Though not immune to malware and viruses, In my experience Apple products sure have a lot less problems than their Windows and android counterparts. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIMaybe we need to stop calling these electronics "phones", since it seems so many people use them more for tasks other than calling someone. Most of them are more tablet than phone, so why not start calling them tablets. A phone is what you use to call someone, a tablet is used for many things, one of which is to call someone.
