Calendar app help

I just got our iPhone (5c) and one of the main reasons way to have a calendar sync between the two iPhone's and our PCs (one uses G mail and the other AOL).
Which app do you think will be the best for us? Doing just a little research fantastical looks good.
As I am a rookie with iPhone s, need help. Free app is nice but the cost of apps are so low so that is not that big of a deal for something a person will used daily.
Thanks

  • our situation is similar. we have a Windows 7 desktop and laptop and an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 5. we use Outlook on the PC's for our calendar and the native IP calendar app on the phones. I wanted to enter a calendar appointment once on any of those devices and have It propagate to all of the other devices without human intervention. as you may know you can sync the iOS calendar to each phone thru the cloud but the issue for us was having those calendar appointments flow into and out of Outlook.

after many experiments I finally found the solution...Companionlink. this does what I want it to do flawlessly. it works this way. I set up a free calendar with google that acts as the "middle man". then I configured the iPhone calendar app on both phones to read and write to the google calendar. after installing Companionlink on the PC's I did the same with it...reading from and writing to the google calendar. when I make a calendar entry on any device it copies that even to the google calendar. every 5-mins all of the devices...the 2 PCs and 2 smart phones...query the google calendar looking for new events to download, existing events that have modifications and events that have been deleted and the necessary changes are made on all devices.

check the website and give the company a call. they were super helpful getting this set up.
  • DW got an Iphone and I really hate it. Calander app is terrible compared to my android calander. And neat apps like ring scheduler are not available on i store. Tye calander does not let you set reoccuring appointments based on days of the month. You can however set it to reoccure on a date. Stupid if you as me.
  • We both have iPhones and think they are great. I just upgraded to the 5S and hers will be here next month (She had to have a gold one). I use Gmail calendar. I have also setup a Gmail account for the DW. I set us each up our own calendar. Both iPhones sync with Gmail from the iPhone as you make changes on the iPhone or via the PC. I have access to her calendar and she has access to mine. Both calendars show up on each others iPhone. You could setup a single shared calendar that both of you update from your phones.
  • Went with Fantastical on our iPhone and Google calendar on our PC and it is working out just great. I how have my life a bit more under control and just love it. The iPhone is worth the cost just for the calendar.
    Thanks for the input.

It takes me about 3 seconds to setup a recurring appointment by date in the calendar app. Apple does try to make their software idiot proof. I guess they're not quite there yet.
  • For those with Microsoft Office, Outlook's calendar plays well with iTunes. In iTunes you can sync specific (or all) calendars and has an option to not sync events older than xxx days.

Note: I'm talking about Microsoft Outlook, not Microsoft Outlook Express.
  • I personally use an Exchange hosted provider for my critical E-mail. This way, I can keep my calendar synced regardless of if I'm on an Android phone, an iPhone, or any device that supports ActiveSync. The downside is that this costs money, namely $10/month per person.

Another alternative is Google's Calendar function which is decent.

iCloud is nice, but there is the obvious caveat -- Apple or nothing.

You have a problem since you use Google on one PC and America Off Line on the other.. I know of no application that will bridge those two.

Other than that, the native calander app on my Samsung gives me the choice of using Samsung or Google calendar to sync.
