- Sea_scapeExplorerYep. You roam on mts. You will have coverage in The Pas, Thompson and Gilliam.
Cdma will give you Churchill and a bit more on the road.
Do you know anyone with a dual mode phone, such as Nexus 5? You may be able to swap Sim cards and get access. But not certain of that. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
By North I mean The Pas, and the train to Churchill. According to Sasktel my Galaxy S4 is not cdma so I'm hooped. - Sea_scapeExplorerDepends what you mean by northern Manitoba. Mts has best coverage, and it is mostly 4g hope. There is still cdma but it is in isolated areas.
Both cover areas around major highways, but mts does better in Cranberry Portage to Thompson and adjacent communities. There are areas of no service on that Highway.
Getting away from the highways there is some service in isolated communities. Mts also has service on Nelson River where the dams are.
Used to carry phones that were dual compliant but there is less need unless you know you will be in an area that needs it.
Map out where you want to travel and what carrier. If rogers, and you are in certain areas you may want a pay as you go on mts. Not sure about roaming with a sasktel phone. Used to be on mts, but I've been away from there a few years now.
