I will elaborate on my last.. Since one side is pristine and the other side looks all Salvadore Dali, And out to quite a distance.. This is what I think happened.
I think the Prior owner over tightened a coax to it and broke the thing loose so the feed-through (the threaded part) turned freely in the plate, so he slathered glue on the back side (Out of site) to hold it in place.
The "melt" is out so far that if it was truly melted you'd see it on the other side as well, there is no way this is melt unless it is chemical melt from something dripping down onto the back plate and it does not look like that either.
Also there is a "Grain" in the "Melt" like it was brushed or combed on.
