Connecting Jensen MP5000 to new LED TV??? URGENT

Ok, so we just bought our 2010 Keystone Springdale and it has a Jensen MP5000 media unit in it. Hanging out the back are your standard RCA (red, yellow and white) plugs.

Well the new TV we bought it a Vizio 29" LED tv. The TV has these connections:
HDMI: 2
Component: 1
Composite: 1 (shared with component)
PC: 1
RF Connector for Internal Tuner: 1
Ethernet: 1
USB 2.0: 1

How can i connect the Jensen to this tv??

I'm leaving in a couple hours so i need to stop for any items before we head out.

Thanks
Matt
  • If the Jensen doesn't have HDMI then use the red and white audio cables and the yellow video cable to the TV's shared component/composite inputs. Depending on whether the Jensen is composite or component once it's hooked up go into your TV's menu and change it into the same input (either Component or Composite). The video's color will be messed up if its on the wrong setting

Ok, so connect the red/white composite to the red/white audio port on the TV. So now im left with the yellow composite. Your saying i can then connect that yellow into 1 of the 3 remaining component inputs?

I just read the manual for your Jenson unit .
    http://www.asaelectronics.com/downloads/dl/file/id/88/mp5000_owners_manual.pdf
And with the connections you have available on your Vizio . The only conclusion I can draw is you are going to have to replace your Jensen unit . Maybe a Radio shack has some sort of adapter kit for this sort of dilemna . You certainly can't be the first to run into this
  • I have that same Jensen unit and I never did like the video quality from those RCA jacks. I bought an HDMI DVD player so I could enjoy my HDTV.
Not to mention one of the DVD's is now permanently stuck in the Jensen unit. At least I know I can always use it to watch season 3 of the Office.

  • On the Visio match the component input to the Jensen cable.
Left audio - White RCA plug
Right audio - Red RCA Plug
The Video input on the Visio yellow with the Yellow RCA from the Jensen.
You should be good to go.

The green input on your TV connects to the Jensens yellow output.
  • Apparently the manual that came with the TV isn't nearly as informative as the manual they provide online only
  • Thanks for everyones help!!

Anyone have a reco for a good replacement head unit that offers all the same features but updated and better quality?

The Jensen AWM975 is an upgrade having a HDMI output. While it does have a HDMI output I added a separate Blu-Ray player in a cubby next to the Jensen.
