Corel VideoStudio X6

As of this past Wednesday my VideoStudio X6 stopped working and simple will no longer open up. I have window 7 OS 64-bit OS, everything up to date on it. I've tried reloading the program and that didn't change anything and also been working with Corel's tech support. They suggested to delete X6 and install the trial X8 VideoStudio program.
Well that didn't change a thing, X8 won't open up either, I have Window Movie Maker and VideoPad editing programs and they work just fine. Maybe someone has had a similar situation happen or may have some ideas to get the Corel video edit program to work again.

    Corel's final answer to me was upgrade to Windows 10 and buy VideoStudio X9. They said Microsoft had released a batch of security patches that made VideoStudio X7 and below no longer compatible with windows OS7. Sounds like a lame excuse since I have other video editing programs that still work great with these so call security patches. Corel has close out my complaint with them with no solution to make VideoStudio X6 work.

    For me it's so long Corel, there are other program that are just as good as your and they work.

    Just a little update: Corel is still trying to figure out why their program won't open up on my computer. I also had my computer guy go through my unit and he can't find anything wrong with it. As a result of a non working VideoStudio X6 I bought a completely different video editing program and it works just fine. If Corel ever finds a solution I'll post it.

    Personally, I've done this Corel method multiple times with no luck in re-installing Video Studio. Would always encounter an error message that a former installation needs to be removed. When it already has been.

    Until Corel decides to fix their buggy software, I'd stay clear and get something else.


    I did as you did with Corel tech support involved using their un-installer. I've now lost access to a video I was working on for the last 3 weeks. I'm now looking at other video editing programs.

    I'm not going to even ask whether you've followed this Corel guide Removal Instructions for Corel VideoStudio Pro X6? Most likely, Corel tech support has already mentioned it?

    Personally, I've done this Corel method multiple times with no luck in re-installing Video Studio. Would always encounter an error message that a former installation needs to be removed. When it already has been.

    Until Corel decides to fix their buggy software, I'd stay clear and get something else.

    You tried using a third party install monitor
    Too install and remove the program?

    Really?
    Because not too many people think of that
    And not just try to uninstall
    Too correctly do this this, it must monitor the install, to record all files and changes made to the pc

    Sorry to hear that didn't work for you, it's normally very effective

    Thanks for the advice, all that you suggested has been done and there has been no changes Corel VideoStudio still won't open up.
    I have three other video editing program and those work just fine.

    is too get something like "Ashampoo uninstaller"
    this program is actually an install monitor
    run the install monitor
    install corel videox6 again, completely, even try to open and use it
    then after the 'installer' has recorded/saved all this info

    reboot the PC, use the 'installer' to uninstall the program

    and try a clean install

    I've had installation issues with Video Studio in the past with Windows 7 x64. It tends to be buggy, and apparently doesn't completely uninstall. Which creates issues trying to re-install. Even manually removing registry entries and files didn't work. Too problematic to deal with.

    Corel Video Studio is a video editing program, I should have made that more clear.
