I know enough to know that I shouldn't attempt it ... so am taking LT to my SIL techie on Turkey Day so he can load it and set it up. I always know just enough to try it, but often not enough to succeed in some of the computer issues.

That much I'm sure of, I've already got a Ph.D in "getting help" :)

The expense is non-relevant at this point - I made a huge mistake buying the new LT with Wdw8 on it ... so, am paying for that both in time, in hassle, and in 'overage' data use on Hotspot.

BTW: For those following the "data over-use" issue with Hotspot, I called the Verizon tech today, again. First question he asked - "Did you recently buy a Windows8 PC" ... so, that tells me something. And, Wdw7 here we come again.

Please let us know how the install of Win 7 over Win 8 goes.

I have been told that many Win 8 machines will refuse to run under Win 7. Something about drivers that will only work under Win 8.

There were a few other issues but, I've slept since then. Some pesky hardware issues.

But, please let us know, by PM if you wish, of your success.

Personally, I have a Win 8 machine that I'd like to run as Win 7. I just don't want to be a guinea pig.

AMEN! If you're not willing to control your machine, they'll happily do it for you. Just don't think you'll have anything that's usable or efficient. It's called personal responsibility, and if you're not willing to take the time to learn how to do it, you'll continue to have problems.

Not every person in the world can learn all it takes to have these tech battles - and as soon as I learn one, it becomes obsolete and I get hit with another one - all I'm asking is for these sneaking vultures to leave my LT alone - quit sneaking around sticking things in it I don't want, and using up my bandwidth without permission.

The definition of a "metered connection" is one which has a charge per unit and a maximum limit before overage charges apply. That's what your VZN 4G sounds like.

Yeah - you're kinda right - but it's a 4G data device (Not W8.1) unless that's part of the data device. I can never figure it all out - even when I think I have, it fools me again :)

Will solve this problem permanently next week with a new Windows7 install on a clean HD in this LT ... I know, I know - Windows8 is great!! But only for those that like it. I spent the time learning Windows7, I like it - and I have two other LT's with Windows7, I like it, I like it :) - so, will go back to it.

Hopefully, when we do this new install - the 'tags' that allow all this other******into my LT without truly asking me will disappear and the 'sneak it in' will stop.

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'd sure rather have only what "I" choose not what others sneak in. Seems to me, if they have a product that is TRULY GREAT, they wouldn't have to sneak it in, I'd go looking for it.

That's one of the things that annoys me to no end - a company installing something I don't want (even tho I accidentally give it permission - without actually knowing it) ... So, now I have to figure out how to get rid of it, and allow my home page to come up.

I paid for the device, I pay for the service - I wish companies would stop sticking 'things' in my LT services. Not only does it annoy me, it makes me absolutely certain I'll never buy anything like it or anything it advertises, simply because it annoys me.
