You would want to put a 75-ohm terminator cap on any unused ports and not just a piece of coax for the best performance.

I was concerned about dust/corrision getting into the Lnb ports/heads etc and wanted to know if leaving a couple of inches of the old cable that is still attached to these UNUSED ports and then sealing off the ends of these cable with Goop/rubber cement to PREVENT any corrision starting.

I have 2 different LnB heads,which are,
1 - Multi-satellite Lnb head/dish (DirecTV Brand)
2 - Slimline SWM LnB head/dish (DirecTV brand)

On the Multi-satellite Lnb head,
there is 4 ports that have cables attached to them. I am using just the left hand port for SD reception.

On the SWM Lnb head there is ONLY the left hand port that has the cable attached, (NONE of the other 3 ports are threaded etc).

A SWM LNB will only have one available output and the others cannot be used. That one single line can be used to power up to 8 separate tuners with the use of a SWM splitter.
I don't understand what you are asking about so I can't answer properly. If you have an older DTV LNB (not SWM) it would have 4 coax outputs available and any unused port should be capped with a 75-ohm terminator cap and not goop.

SWM means Single Wire Multiswitch. We have the Slimline SWM HD dish that actually has 8 signals going through the single cable in 8 different frequencies. It works great. Our DVR grabs 2 signals and the BR TV takes another so we still have 5 signals available.

Any DirecTV antenna will work for the reception of the SD DirecTV programming even this little guy from Winegard.
Winegard MP-1
It's priced lower than this at most any RV outlet or online.

I just want a good reliable system to take to the hills for using in the RV,that will capture the SD programing with the equipment I already own.

The smaller and more compact the better.

Question,
Is there a smaller/round DiredTV dish that will also work with my equipment?

Can this new Slimline dish/LNB be used with my D12-100 reciever to recieve SD programing? (Thinking about upgradeing down the road).

Which line port do you attach the cable to, as there were 4 cables attached, (that have been cut off), as viewed looking at the dish from the LNB to dish?

On the original Multi-satellite dish (one I am working with now), there were 4 cables attached to the LNB (which 3 were cutoff), the remaining cable is the one I have been using, it has coupler to attach the main reciever cable to going to the house.

Does it make a difference which LNB port this cable is attached too?

While that antenna is over-kill, it will work just fine with your D12. To use that receiver with a SWM antenna you will need to reset the receiver in the "repeat satellite setup" page to 01-SWM and not 02-multi-switch. From a SWM antenna you only need to run one single cable to any receiver. With the other antenna you describe, you can use any one port to any one receiver input. If you have a dual tuner DVR you would run 2 coax cables.
SWM is cool and easy to use.
