Can I use a slimline 3 dish with a HR 24 DVR (living room) and HR 25 HD Receiver (bedroom). The base of the LNB arm has 4 connectors, which one is used? Am I correct in my assumption that I will need a power inserter and a splitter to send the signal to the two receivers? What settings will I use for the receivers? I'm checking out tv4rv.com for the equipment to support and aim the dish.Thanks for your response.

Unless you outfit your rv with a SWM setup, you will need to run two separate coax cables from the dish then one directly to each receiver with no splitters. It doesn't matter which pigtail you use on the slimline dish. I run two HD receivers in my fiver and run two cables from the dish. One goes to the "satellite prep" feed to the living room TV receiver (direct run). The other cable runs from the dishto the "cable in" feed to the 2nd TV receiver. I had to modify the rv's factory coax wiring to isolate the "cable in" feed from the antenna amplifier for this to work.

Is your bedroom receiver an H25? I don't believe there is an HR25. If it is an H25, that receiver requires a SWM setup. Which you could do, if you want. You'd probably want a SWM8 switch and then you'd need a power inserter for the SWM8. You'd plug all four wires from your dish - probably right at the dish - into the SWM8 and run one wire to your trailer. That one wire would plug into the power inserter, and the satellite output from the power inserter would plug into a 2- way SWM splitter; one output to each TV.Or, you could forget the SWM setup and run two outputs - any two - to the HR24; with the two inputs, you'd be able to watch one channel and record another (which will also work with one SWM input). But then your H25 won't be able to work.

One of mine is a HR23 the other is a HR700. The HR700 requires a b band converter. I use the slimline 3 multi switch setup.

I was planning, if the dish would work, to set up the SWM PI and splitter in the front compartment right aside of the convenience center where the cable runs to the living room and bedroom start. They are dedicated runs for satellite. The DVR is a HR 24 HD Receiver and the one I am putting in the bedroom is a HR 25 HD Receiver. I guess I only need a source for the Power Inserter and the DC pass splitter.

Thought I would check a couple of other units, all set up for SWM. One is an HR22-100 DVR that puts out 13.44 vdc and the other is a receiver, H21-200 that puts out 13.53 vdc. Although I haven't tried it, I would bet that those two would work with the SWM without the PI. Next time we go out in the fiver I will find out. Will also record the signal strength. Keep in mind that I don't get the same signal strength with my modified Slimline that you would get with the actual 32" reflector. My reflector is a modified DISH 1000.2 that has some strength loss on the KU satellites. 85 ti 88 is very good. 101 is usually around 95%.

The Pi powers the swm lnb. Where as the recievers power the lnb on the legacy system. Without the power inverter only one recover would power the swm lnb.

OK. Here's what I found. The HR21-100, which, for some reason, will work independently of the PI and splitter puts out 13.25 vdc, a far cry from the 21v that the PI puts out but, for some reason, works with the SWM. The HR 24-200 puts out zero when set up for SWM, thus will not activate the SWM. I guess it only supplies voltage out when it is switched to work non-SWM setup.

If you are string to hook up more than 1 reciever on a SWM system you need a

Swm splitter (which has a green label on it)

swm lnb which has only one connector on it. May have 1 or 3 eyes

A kaku lnb can have 1 or 3 eyes but will have 4 coax connectors for 4lines to run

A power inverter without it no receiver will get signal

The set up for the swm system is the coax cable from lnb to the powerr side of splitter. Then the line that is going to the power inverter need to be connected to the splitter with the red dot on the connectoe end

H25 only works on the Swm system. Will not work on a regular kaku system.

Make sure that the hr 24 is connected to the sat 1 connection on the back of the reciever

Thefollowing dvrs are compatible. With the Swm system are R16;R22; and H20-H24

Can't do this at my home. Dish on the roof. 28v SWM system. I could check the voltage from the HR21-100 compared to the HR24-200. If the older unit doesn't have higher voltage output I will be surprised.
As I said, at the time I was trying to find the reason for a " Can't Communicate With Dish" error. I just went straight to the receiver, trying to make sure I had the dish pointed. Never said this before, but this was not the first time I had seen this phenomenon.

I replaced the PI with a new one and all was back to normal.

This would be interesting to investigate if you are interested in doing a bit of work.
If you still happen to have that receiver hooked up (or handy) it would be interesting to go into the receiver setup menu and go to the Signal Strength screen. Write down the series of numbers that show up there for the 3 satellites and let us know what you find. It might help explain how that receiver is able to do what other receivers cannot.
