DISH 211Z and 1000.2 sat?

So I tried to connect my new 211Z to a 1000.2 eastern arc box. No luck.

Took it into the house an no luck there either on an already aligned dish which is pointing at 62 and 72.

Which SATs does a 211z need? And does the box need reconfigured?

BTW I Ordered a Pathway x2 which will arrive tomorrow.

Thanks in advance.
  • Did you run a "Check switch" on the 211z so it could identify which LNB it was connected to?
  • The 211 (all Dish receivers) use whichever satellites they are pointed toward. If you have an EA antenna on your house then it will receive 61.5, 72.5 and 77 after a successful check switch. If you are using a WA antenna on your house you will receive 110, 119 and 129 after a successful check switch.
  • So if I am aiming the dish, do I set the box to look for the sat I am looking for? It's different between Directv and DISH.
  • There really is no "setting the receiver. You get the antenna pointed to the 3 satellites you like and then run the check switch routine. This will set the receiver to receive the programming from those satellites.
If you are searching for EA satellites with your antenna, you can select the 72.7 satellite (center of the 3) on the signal strength meter or for WA select 119. This won't guarantee that you will get all 3 but it's a good starting point.
  • I also found it is a bit easier to get Directv up and going primarily because receivers appear to respond quicker to sat dish pointing adjustments. Other than that the processes for either service are quite similar. We use the VIP receivers in our rig and using a compass locate the center satellite, we then run a check switch.

HD is just as easy as SD and only requires the added tilt parameter to attain the outward satellites. With the tilt properly set, once center satellite has been adjusted to max strength other two sats should also be locked in. For us, the dish pointing is the easiest part, it takes longer to unwind coax, level the tripod, and mount the sat dish.
