- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThere is NO dish Internet service. Even if there was you would not be able to use any kind of satellite TV antenna.
You will be best served by using cellular for your primary internet service and supplement it with campground and McDonald's wi-fi as necessary. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIThe Dish satellite Internet service is a rebranded Hughes Gen4 package. There is no part of it that's compatible with the Dish satellite TV service. The receiver/transmitter and dish are unique to the Internet service. Gen4 is spot beamed with various segments of the country in different beams. Switching from spot to spot is technically possible, but is not currently supported by either Dish or Hughes, making mobile RV use largely impractical. The dish also requires much more critical aiming than the TV services dishes.
- JaneNLeeExplorerI was wondering about the location or destination of the internet signal too. May have to call DISH OMG
Thanks to all for your help.
Happy Rving - tatestExplorer IIIt is one brand, but two different services. DISH Internet does not use the same satellites or receiving equipment as DISH DTV service.
DISH Internet service is beamed to the places DISH thinks they can provide service otherwise not available (e.g. there is no competition from Cable or DSL). It is sold as a service installed at a fixed location, so I don't know if you can set it up as a mobile service, or whether it will be beamed to the places you choose to travel. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIYou didn't mention which receiver you have. Is it a VIP211k or z?
- JaneNLeeExplorerThanks. I will call them.
Happy Rving - Denny___JamiExplorerIf you own your equipment they don't care what it is.
