With Dish you either need a 3 LNB dish antenna or one of the auto locating antennas that automatically switch between sats as you select the channels. That takes care of any re-aiming problems.

We have dish for the home and the fifth. A few years when the spotbeam deal started we lost the Seattle network stations. America direct network going though the dish satellite gave us network tv and also from the East so we received dual time zones. This was great until American direct shut down. Then the problem we lost the satellite 110 and the network stations were on 110. On our Dish we asked to receive network stations from Phoenix for the winter months thinking that would be ok. It was a pain to switch the satellite from 119 to 110 so using the rv parks tv cable we had network tv. We found out we don't watch much network programing now. Direct uses one satellite I have been told so getting the best information for what will work is a good idea.

I think you will find Dish will be more than happy to change you over from Directv.

We have directv in the house and dish pay as you go in the TT. I got sick of moving the box back and forth. We don't have HD in the house but we do in the TT and we don't need as many stations in the TT.

If they keep going the way they are soon there won't be anything worth watching.

My thoughts also. We do own both 211's and being on the road about 9 months of the year losing the turn on turn off feature with DISH won't be that big a deal.

We don't record things so that is not an issue for us.

Dish shouldn't have any problem adding another receiver to your existing account if you're buying it. If you want to go on contract to get the free equipment and setup, that may take a little time to get straightened out. I suspect you'll have to cancel your existing account, and then add the 211's back on after the new account is active.

We have a Dish "Flex" pay-as-you-go account with a 211k, a Hopper w/Sling, and a Joey on it. I installed a 1000.4 eastern arc dish at our upstate NY cottage that we use when we're there instead of setting up our portable 1000.4 EA/WA dish. When we leave, we sometimes leave the Hopper hooked up at the cottage to record the programs we'll miss while underway. We can then either watch them when we return or stream them with Sling. We also change our service locations as we move around to get the area locals, and the receiver that's left behind at the cottage loses them as expected. Since we get all the networks OTA there though, that's not an issue for recording network programming.

Well, that pretty much confirms that you should go with DISH as the X2 isn't cheap and can't be used with DirecTV receivers.

For home use you may want to add a 722 receiver as it has 2 tuners and gives you more recording options.

Select one provider and use a single receiver at home and in the rig.

We use DTV and a DVR receiver. ie Recorded programs stay with the receiver. We time shift and skip the ads.

In addition the receiver uses a RF remote so that it doesn't have to be visible and in the rig it's mounted vertical in a closed cabinet.
