Had the same MSN.com email address since Al invented the internet. Want to set up different alias under the outlook account and had trouble making it do what I thought it should do. Played with the alias primary's, even my MSN.com account. Oops I find out you can't use any address but outlook.com and hotmail.com. For a primary now. Long story short in the mess I lost my MSN.com address and it's is no where to be found. Have any idea how much time and trouble it takes to set up a new account and change your email address in every biller, bank, credit cards, eBay, PayPal ect? Then have to notifie all your contacts? if you have a MSN.com account you are fond of DONT MESS WITH IT!

I find outlooks is easier to set up manually. I google settings for whatever I need to set up. gmail, att, verizon, msn etc. I like to use outlook with my att and gmail account because it seems to use up less data time.

bummer. there is a certain nostalgia for old email addresses.my business email address is twenty years old this year, and my hotmail account not far behind it, 18 years. having signed up for a beta-test before the launch and subsequent buy-out from Microsoft.

My dad,91, belongs to a computer club and when I told him he said they warned him years ago not to mess with your MSN address cause you'll lose it.

I have had my MSN account since 1995 and Windows 95 Preview Edition, when MSN was accessed like a folder.

best to have couple of different emails. way back when, I set up a yahoo.com account specifically for software and forum registrations. Main reason is that I didn't want all the spam that generates from those registrations hitting my main account. It still gets over 100 spam messages a day.I then set up a special account on another more private service for money matters like banking, online purchases, etc. It is the one I tied to paypal and ebay. Then, of course, I have my work address.

That really sucks to lose your email like that. Free things don't come with a guarantee though. I've used my @yahoo account for going on 12 years. I use mostly for junk mail and sites that may spam me. If it gets nuked I won't be missing much though.

For everyone else I own my own domain so that our whole family has an email account that I'm in control of not some behemoth company that doesn't care about me. Runs about $35/year.

Bill look on your credit card statement for a 800 number for MSN. The person who answers might be able to tell you how to get a hold of the department that can help you. Worth a try.

I stopped the extra charge fee for more services on MSN years ago. I have already changed every thing over to new account. I happened to have An alias that was the same as msn.com in outlook.com.

One thing good that has happened is I don't get mail from old accounts and institutions that keep sending stuff after I requested them to quit.
