Download/Install Android apps

Just a thought
Did you try updating the Google app, it's no longer the Google market or what ever out used to be
It's now Google play/play store, it used to be Google store

Thanks to all.I think it's time to get a new phone.

I had an older Droid that would ask to update apps, but when I would try to update, it would say limited memory, when in fact, it showed there should have been available memory. I tried moving as much to SD card as I could. Finally wound up deleting everything but only essential apps. I think they have a secret built in time bomb so that you have to get new phones after a certain period of time.

The problem does not seem to be with the memory.In Internal storage there is
1.1GB used
5.4 GB free
SD card,
1.4GB used
515MB free
I'm not on WiFi.
I tried removing the battery,no change
Everything else seems OK.
It doesn't want to download/install anything,so Astro file app won't help (?)
I tried the battery remove and reboot,no change.

Before you uninstall anything, I suggest you install "Astro" file manager
You can backup your current apps to "apk" files, ( android installer files)
You can then delete as many as you want
Backing up the current working versions, ensures that you have the ability to restore a working app file it's also a lot easier and faster to transfer to a new android phone or tablet
There is the rare paid for app, that Will have to be, re_down loaded from Google play, but most free apps can be backed up to apk

The saved apps will be in a folder called backup
And of you need space you can copy the folder to the micro SDcard or the pc
Then delete from the phones internal memory
In some cases you can specify where to save the backup folder
Using the SD card, will save internal memory

That's because the apps get installed in memory. Move them to the SD card and things will get better.

Are you installing from Google Play Store? If so, it will only allow you to install apps compatible with your phone. Check the system memory in your phone. When apps try to load and there is not enough memory they will stall. Try uninstalling some of the apps you don't use often and then try installing a new app and see if the same problem happens. A system reset will bring your phone back to factory condition but doing that will lose all apps and data in the phone. Apps should be there to reinstall from the "cloud" from whichever site you got them from. Back up your data off the phone before doing any system reset. Google your phone to see exactly how to do a full system reset.

Have you checked the Android version requirements of the apps. Some of them will not work on your old phone. For example, I was trying to update my TV Guide app and the newer version of the app will not work on my old phone (even though the older version of the app worked just fine).
