East or West coast TV programming Service

Yes you can get HD DirecTv on two TVs. We have a Winegard on the roof but used a portable dish before that. You just need a DirecTv splitter. We have the Genie on both our TVs. Only the main TV has the DVR though we have whole house viewing so we can watch DVR'd programs in the bedroom.

The FCC does not disallow getting both feeds and new users should be able to call and ask DTV to add the second feed for an additional $5 just as I and many others have in our coaches. Most of us were grandfathered in but many have reported being given both just by asking for it.

Not with me, or many others on here. Regardless of the FCC, DTV does what the person on the phone at that time does.

Ours does, too....but we were grandfathered in about 20 years ago when we started DirecTV and lived in an area with no local programming available. We were told that if we ever changed our minds and opted out of those coverages, we could never get them back.

FCC disallows both east and west coast feeds together. Used to be but not anymore. When you establish service using DNS DirecTV will ask if you want east or west coast. Once you choose though, you're stuck unless you cancel the service and reup. Then you can change. Makes little sense to me but that's what they said. We are registered in the Central Time Zone but have the West Coast feed, (cuz that's what DW wanted). It sux if you're traveling on the East Coast when all the shows start at 11PM...we ended up getting another DVR for the living room so she could record them. We thought we could simply switch to East Coast when we were east of the Mississippi but nope, gotta cancel and reup. Dish may be different...Dennis

Thank-you all for the feedback. Now a follow-up: is it possible to have HD TV service available on 2 TV? Any recommendation, would like to have satellite on our motorhome.

If your RV is registered in Eastern or Central Time zone you will get the East feed (the best to have if you are stuck with one). The other 2 time zones get the West feed. It is very likely that you could get both for an extra $5 if you ask.
If you don't mind changing your address (and all the DVR pre-sets every time you move you can call and have them change your location. There is nothing at all improper in any rule or regulation by any government agency. Since the service is spot beamed, if you aren't where you say you are you won't receive anything.

It was never a choice for me. Both or none.
