I have loaded Ghostery since reading this and one note of an issue. If you allow Ghostery to block everything, many videos will not play. CNBC and NBC news video for example. There was a link to a gator at a Walmart in the Snowbirds section that had 25 trackers in it. Unbelievable how much info these sites are trying to get.

This is one of those confusing issues.

You see. I do not want web sites tracking my internet usage thus I use the Do Not add-ons (A few different versions)

however there is an APP that reports to a central server the approximate lat& long (and altitude and vector (Speed and direction) of my phone every so often.. Anyone can locate my phone if they know the URL.

And in this thread.. Those who are authorized to know the URL do, and those who are not will not h ear it from me.

After several years 5-6 of using Firefox I had to recently start using another browser when we attracted a Trojan on two of our Windows compeers. I spent money to buy three spyware / anti-virus programs and none of the could get it out. Removed and re-installed FF. Used internet for solutions. finally gave up. Use Chrome on my 3 windows laptops and Safari on my Mac Book Pro.

I check to box in both Chrome and Safari to request do not track. Still have problems. I can always tell when I look at something to buy on the web and an hour later other sites start showing me ads for similar products. At that point I remove all the cookies and history.

Using Do Not Track ME for Firefox and love it. If they want it they can pay me as well as them getting paid for my info.

What I noticed and really liked is that Amazon is closed to trackers.

Just installed both yesterday. Also recommend NoScript and AdBlocker Plus.

Here's my favorite Firefox add-on that is a tracker (like above) as well as a blocker of third-party sites. You decide your settings.
