Flash Player Displays 1/2 Screen On Firefox

I have an electric monitor that displays on my Firefox. It is unfortunately a Flash Player application. It only displays at less than 1/2 the screen and is impossible to read. I can zoom the page as large as I want but the Flash part remains small. I tried Flash Game Maximizer with no improvement. Googling it finds similar problems with no solution. This is Win7 with a widescreen monitor. It worked perfect with Win98 and a 4X3 monitor.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanx

  • i don't think its a web page

i thinks its a shockwave 'swf' program, NOT Flash FLV

it just happen to open in the web browser, because swf was originally envisioned and used for small online game and for ads,

found this doing a google search for windows PC swf player

SWF Player offers a proper set of functions to play various files, including the support of full screen mode combined with the unique capacity to play the videos with the maximum possible frame rate in this mode. The interface which can be operated on a hunch is aimed to provide the availability to be understandable to all the users.

SWF Player is compatible with all versions of Windows OS versions including 98, 2000, ME, 2003, Vista and 7. To start using the program all you need is to download the file with it and install it onto your computer. The file takes surprisingly little space and the process of the installation won't take you much time.

this is all i know, i no experience with it, my tools are old and are for decompiling, editing and writing new programs
they have their own testing modes
  • It's going to be difficult, even not possible without actually examining the Flash based page. Do you have an URL?
  • two questions
what was the display resolution of the win98 machine vga 640*480 or svgs 800*600?

what is the resolution of the new 1280*720, 1366*768 or 1920*1080?

you realize that using the smallest numbers in each set the new display is almosr Four times the area of the old one, so the swf window only uses just over 1/4 of the display

you are lucky it displays at half size and not smaller

you say flash, but flash has become a generic term

original programs from that 'ERA' are swf aka shockwave, not flv - flash video
    swf is a programing language,
flv is a video format that allows for embedded links , and comments etc..

Adobe bought swf then added flv 'flash video' format ,then re-badged everything as 'Flash'

some programs have a line of program code that specifies the display size of that swf window

to change this you will have to decompile and edit that program

5 maybe six years ago i was doing quite a bit of that
as I was adapting swf apps and games for use on 'dumb/Feature' phones

replacing a built in currency exchange app or tip calculator
    with a game
doing custom wallpaper apps with built in clocks etc.

this was before I switched to smart phones

not sure if there is a 'Player' program that will allow resizing

Win7 AND widescreen monitor is most likely not compatible with your monitor program even though it is using a browser.

That is some very big changes, newer version of OS (98 to W7), FF (FF v3.x? perhaps to FF v12 or higher?) browser program not to mention large changes to flash player from 98 to W7 along with a lot of other changes under the hood of W7 which may not be friendly).

I would suggest seeing if there is a new version of monitoring software for your device, otherwise you may need to install a virtual machine environment and install 98SE as a virtual device (although support for 98SE within a virtual environment is sketchy at best).

On edit.. If you have Win7 PROFESSIONAL you are eligible to download a FREE virtual XP environment (Home or other versions do not include this free download). This basically installs XP as a "virtual" PC and would allow you to attempt to run your monitoring program from XP which may have a better chance of running correctly..
