- joelcExplorer IIII was hoping to purchase a GPS for our RV this year. Research indicated that the Rand McNalley was the best one out. They have one for the RV. Garmin did not. I have an older Grarmin and love it and am very excited that Garmin FINALLY has one dedicated for the RV. I did not want one for trucks. I did look at the Garmin site noted above and was disappointed of the lack of information they had on the unit. I was not interested in a story. Please let us know how you like it and if it does what it is designed to do. My biggest concern is that it takes me places with out ripping my roof off as I go under an overpass and does not take me down roads meant for a horse. The additional features of campgrounds and diesel stops would also be very helpful.
Keep us posted. - Bob_VaughnExplorerI emailed them on friday and they did not have any....

The Garmin website still says that the RV760 is available for "pre-order". I see that other sites have them in stock.I would like to order one direct from Garmin, does anyone know the shipping time if ordered direct? Or are they still considered "pre-order' from Garmin?
Garmin is shipping. I put my order in on the garmin website in mid june. Recieved it in early july. Not sure why it says pre order. Give them a call, they may be able to give you delivery time over the phone and you could then order direct. Haven't seen anyone discount them yet. - johnvbExplorer

I have a question regarding setting up the RV profile in this GPS. We tow a 30' 5er (rated at 10,175 GVWR), with a F350 (rated at 11,500 GVWR). This gives a total of 10.8 tons. Is this the correct number to input into the settings, even though part of the weight of the RV is seen by the truck?
The GVWR is the total of vehicle plus max cargo allowable. My Tundra's GVWR is 7200lbs. but the truck (with me in it) weighs 5200lbs. Id' have to carry a ton of camping gear (including tongue weight) to get to the GVWR. That being said, and in absence of a CAT scale weigh slip, I've temporarily programmed my setup (as you suggested) by using the GVWRs of both units. I figure this is above my actual weight but will have to do until we hit the scales.

The closest CAT scale to us looks to be in Suffolk. But there are a few places around here (Big Charlies Truck Stop is right down the street) that have some type of scales.

Garmin Dezi Truck GPS (gets good reviews from truckers and RV owners)- which has the propane setting for truck mode (but not RV mode) so just set a truck profile with the specs for your RV including propane, and you get proper routing. This is what is baffling about the Garmin RV GPS - they already have a firmware capable of having a propane setting and they leave it out of the RV GPS.
Are the propane rules for trucks and RVs the same?
There is a huge difference between a truck transporting propane and an RV with a few gallons of propane. - _tiredTeacherExplorer II

I ordered mine from Garmin on Thursday, July 11, and got it the following Wednesday.

Well considering a bunch of folks who ordered in June (during the "super sale") got double ordered and billed, and many sent back the extra GPS units, they should have plenty in stock.:S Just call em'. They come from Kansas, so shouldn't take more than 3 days if in stock. - 1775Explorer

Does any brand of GPS steer you away from "No Propane" allowed roads, bridges, and tunnels"?
Yes. The Rand McNally (poor routing ability - I returned the one I bought when it routed me onto a road with a 7'10" clearance), the Magellan (not a lot of good comments), the free Android Co-Pilot app (poor routing when I tried it), and the Garmin Dezi Truck GPS (gets good reviews from truckers and RV owners)- which has the propane setting for truck mode (but not RV mode) so just set a truck profile with the specs for your RV including propane, and you get proper routing.
