GPS Apps

I was about to order the Garmin RV 660LMT GPS.
However, Tropical Wave Harvey may develop into a TS or a Hurricane within the next few days and that will be before I would receive the GPS.
Soooooooooo, I need an RV App for GPS that will give me a clear path through bridge overheads, low trees, etc so I can escape the Galveston area and completely avoid the Houston traffic heading west toward Austin

What is a reasonably good app that I can get for my Samsung Android 10" tablet at a reasonable price?

That would seem like a real good idea!
  • The Motor Carriers Atlas will show you the truck routes and will list any height restrictions along those routes. Every bridge below 13' 6" will be listed. If you really want a GPS, you can buy the Garmin DEZL 760 LMT at almost any truck stop. Is the same as the RV version as pertaining to height, weight restrictions. It just does not have the park and campground POIs preloaded. You have to get them yourself from poifactory.com.
  • I had heard of some apps for the I pad that were free or almost free and very good. I sure would live to hear comments from anyone using an app on their I pads.
  • Thanks for the info. It just so happens that if I dont leave tomorrow morning, it will be too late. Then I will only hope it's a tropical storm and not a hurricane. It's my own fault for not reading the news or the weather channel these past few days.
If I have to, I will find a truck stop nearby. What info does the deluxe Motor Carriers Atlas contain?
  • I don't know of any apps., but you can get the 660lmt via Amazon Prime tomorrow. Or the Rand McNally Deluxe Motor Carriers Atlas on Amazon Prime (next day). If you aren't a member of Amazon Prime, you could visit a local truck stop and pick up a copy.
