GPS App ?

My old factory rebuilt Tom Tom has finally had it. Last trip out I had the old girl laying on a folded towel on the dash trying to find her way. My wife ran her I-phone GPS in tandem and it both worked well and gave better directions than the old TomTom. My question is, is there an APP for RV's that will work on my Android? I'm sure there are many, so let me rephrase, is there an APP that works WELL with RV's and doesn't cost a small fortune?

google maps should be available for android. it's free, accurate and gives aural turn-by-turn directions.

I have and use google maps on my smartphone as a gps on occasion. The problem is that it uses a lot of power, and the phone needs to be attached to a charger or it will quit pretty quickly. Also, you need cell service and data access to download map details. It works, but with limits. A good GPS unit has its maps already loaded, and only needs to be able to see the GPS satellites.

I won't ever use the Google maps.2 times it took me through some back roads and was a nightmare each time.
Good for non towing.

All Android phones should have Google Maps pre-installed. Try that..

maps, GPS devices, etc. are not foolproof and all are capable of doing that which is why it is prudent to double check the plotted route before hitting the road. we've had situations where our Street Atlas has told us to make a turn but we ignored the instruction because we could see that it was wrong or would lead un into trouble. blind faith in a map or GPS is a recipe for disaster.

Google maps works well but even like GPS units, they're not 100% accurate all the time.

I LOVE my Garmin Nuvi 50LM GPS, Amazon has it cheap too.

Another vote for the free CoPilot, my wife runs it on her iPad, we use a Garmin as our primary but Copilot has helped find different routes and points of interest to stop at. The free version does not have voice directions so you would have to pay for the delux version if you want that. I also have CoPilot on my iPhone and it has come in handy when I leave the Garmin in the other vehicle and need some help getting where I'm suppose to be.

If you are already familiar with TomTom you can get the app for Android. The beauty of it is it has its own map base built in and doesn't rely on the Internet cell towers. That means it will work in the wilderness. It got me through Canada on my way to Alaska where I had my cell connection turned off. It is pretty much the same as a standalone TomTom unit. I have it on my iPhone and iPad. Map and data updates come quarterly. It will however work with the Internet in search for things that are not in their stored database.
