Home monitoring system?

We use Ring. Always come back after an internet issue but daughter recharges them as necessary...every three weeks or so

Sounds good doesn't it. Check on your house from anywhere. But I have found there is more to it. We have cameras thruout the house which work fine when they work. But if there is a power outage, or if the internet goes down, the cameras don't always come back up. Maybe it's because they are cheap; don't know.
But be aware that just plugging in a system (and going away for several months) will not guarantee that the system will stay operable for all the time you are away.
I am also nervous about a smart t/s that you can control from afar. If you can control it so can a hacker...

I use a group of Blink cameras, a remotely controllable smart thermostat, a moisture detector (behind the washer), an alarm system, and a wifi connected weather station. All of this does require a reliable internet connection.
