DUDE!! HDMI is the way to go! 1 wire for everything. Less mess, less fuss. You don't need to buy overpriced wires. monoprice.com has good affordable wires. And, it isn't like the old analog days, where paying extra for cables gives you better video and audio. With digital, either the 1's and 0's go through, or it doesn't. - darsbenExplorer II

However I have a VHS deck and a DVD that I do not wish to replace.
If a manufacturer does not want to make his components backwards convertible I prefer not to buy it. - 2oldmanExplorer II

We have had this TV for a couple years, it is HDMI, and just bought it to use in the trailer bedroom on trips.
I know I can go buy a new Blue Ray, I already have one in the Living Room at home and don't want to buy more equipment.
I had this extra (non-HDMI plug) DVD player that I just wanted to put in the basement for a couple weeks with the extra trailer TV so I can use the DVD player to watch a training video course for work.
Hate to throw it out...and now it works, didn't have to go buy anything:)
Thanks everyone. - lots2seeinmyrvExplorerThis Component Adapter worked for me, I found it in the paperwork that came with my TV set.

Are you really so foolish to think all VHS movies are on DVD? If so, I would like you to provide the source for Medicine River (1993) on a DVD. It is only on VHS. I have been looking for it for years and I am not the only one.darsben wrote:

I much prefer watching my VHS myself. can be watching a movie, pull it out and set it aside to do something. come back hours/days/weeks later and start where I left off. can't figure out how to do that with a DVD.

New bluray machines will automatically accomplish this. My Samsung bought on sale does this. I'm sure other companies can do the same. If you enjoy VHS great. At this point, bluray is becoming old technology.
I held onto a vhs player for some reason. Its been unplugged for 6yrs. - 2oldmanExplorer II
