I have the answer.

Settings > System Settings > USB Mode to MSC (that is Mass Storage) will assign a letter drive which is required for Rockbox any way.

you could try this....

go to My Computer, right click on the Sansa drive there and create shortcut, it will create a shortcut on the desktop. Then from TC you press enter on the shortcut and you are inside the player.

Sansa Clip is the cat's meow. I've had a couple because I lost the first one. I had it for over 10 years and used it almost every day. They are wonderful.

I agree, but the most important thing for me is putting the Rockbox firmware on it, which is easy. Never lose a bookmark that way, as you have multiple for the same book. With the factory firmware, as you indicate, as long as you don't change the menu function, it will always start up where you left off, but one mistake and you are searching for the last heard part.

The Ipod will only give one bookmark as well I believe.

I have a Sansa clip - every so often then go on sale at Best Buy for less than $30. They do everything in your list of requirements. It has a bookmark function for audiobooks and as long as you don't change the menu selection to anything else will start where you left off without having to go to the bookmark. Very small and takes a micro SD card in addition to its own large internal memory.

Both of us use MP3 players. A charger can be purchased for under $10. Each of our MP3 players have had as many as 18 books on them. I use both ear buds and a connector to the sound on boom boxes, radios, stereos and to the MP3 player in vehicles. Coupled with ear muff hearing protectors I listened to stories while driving tractors, lawn mowers and working with saws and planers in my wood shop. My MP3 player is 3 years old and only holds about 4 hour charge. The spouses is 6 months and holds a charge for two days. They are probably in use 8 hours a day or more.

Have you looked at the kindle fire? It will play audiobooks that are downloaded to it for sure, the other requirements I do not know about.

I use a Sansa Clip, and/or clip zip, very reasonably priced, I have been using it for years, and I use it specifically for audiobooks.

You can only save one bookmark at a time with the factory firmware, but it is very easy to put on a firmware called Rockbox, which gives you more options, and you can save multiple bookmarks(which is a must have for me so I never lose my place.

Rockbox is free.

Would never use anything else.
