You really don't need to install a lot of computer wasting stuff on your computer to deal with this stuff.

A simple free program called Malware Bytes and CCleaner will effectively clean your computer if run once a week. In most cases once a month will do.

I do not have an installed anti Virus. They are intrusive and slow things down dramatically. If I sense a problem I will run Panda anti virus that resides in the cloud.

By knowing my computer, by watching what is happening, not opening unknown e mail attachments (and this includes those stupid chain letters sent by your brother-in-law)and by not falling for every "free" offer out there on the net...(there is a reason they are Free)These things will go a long way to keep your computer safe and clean.

I am going to tell you a short story:
The joke: For a safe internet experience use digital condoms.

I run with some first rate software on this low end computer.. Anti-Virus/malware, Firewalls and the like.. The result is a lot of this "Stuff" like ad-ware.. never makes it on board.

My daughter felt it slowed her computer down too much... As a result her computer "Caught cold" Took her "Expert" husband over 2 hours to recover one file.. Took me less than 20 minutes to fix it and restore full operation... Actually most of that time was twiddling my thumbs while the computer did the work.
