KVH Trac Vision R6 upgrade?

I have a 10 year old Trac Vision on my motor home and it has served me well for all those years. We have 3 Direct TV boxes in our house and typically move one of them to the RV when we are on the road.

Recently we upgraded two of the boxes to new style networking type with HD. We kept the one box which we still use in the RV.

Recently I took one of the new boxes out to the RV to see if it would work with my Trac Vision. The programming in the RV calls for setting the antenna type to "18" round" while in the house, it is set for "Oval". Unfortunately the new boxes do not seem to have a setting for 18" round.

I have no problems keeping the original box that works, but I'm concerned if it fails. Do I have an alternative option? I emailed back and forth with KVH and they gave up very quickly and referred me to "a dealer" to fix the problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You do understand that your dome will never be able to receive ANY of the DirecTV HD programming. If you are OK with SD only in the RV then there are a couple of other caveats. The receiver cannot be an H25, Genie (HR34, 44, 54) or a client used with a Genie. My suggestion would be the H24 (or get a D12 since you will be SD only an leave it in the RV). The other setting that might work with your old dome is the Oval 3 LNB. Just be sure that you get the multiswitch setting off SWM and changed to Multiswitch. The antenna options are numbered and 18" round is #1 and I believe the Oval setting is #3.

Bill, thanks for the suggestions. I am fine with SD. I'm not a TV elitist! :-) There are only two settings available on the HD receivers and neither one works so I am left with only my older receiver and hope it doesn't fail me or DTV makes it obsolete.

    Sighhhhh.................:S
