A ton of disinformation here- there is no ban on anything, rather there is an energy efficiency standard being imposed. If a bulb meets the standard, it is fine. Many incandescent halogen bulbs do meet that standard.
Like it or not, global warming is real and it's here, and for our children's sake, we must cut carbon emissions.
I guess that's why the Global Warming scientists got stuck in the ice in Antartica!
They got stuck in the ice because it is Antarctica and it is cold.
The problem with much of the news about climate is actually news about weather. One cannot point to a single weather pattern or incident and use it to form an argument either for or against the science involved in the study of global warming. Global warming is very real. The real debate is about cause and effect.
Personally I don't know why so many people are upset that incandescent light bulbs are disappearing. Honestly what is so bad about that?
Almost every light in my house is now LED. Exceptions being a couple of 3-way bulbs and the halogens in my range hood. Not a single person who has come to my house has been able to detect a difference in lighting between the LED's and Incandescents. LED bulbs have improved and come down considerably in cost. A 60W dimmable equivalent LED is now under $10. As we move forward I suspect we will see even greater improvements and cost reductions.
Initially I did change most of the lights to CFL. The initial cost was cheaper however I was not happy with their appearance or durability. The CFL's did not hold up with constantly turning them on and off.
