I throw Firefox and Chrome on machines. For general Web browsing, I use Chrome in a VM and a sandbox (two layers are better than one), and I use Firefox for banking in another VM. That way, if one browser gets compromised, my other stuff is well isolated away from it.
There are some sites which require IE, so I have a Windows XP VM just for those, which when I'm done, I roll back to a known good snapshot to prevent any malware from doing much harm.
