- wcjeepExplorerBe sure it syncs to iPhone. It mentions Bluetooth sync which Apple does not normally allow. OBD dongle with iPhone is accomplished with wifi connection.

X2. I also have a basic ODBII BT adapter with Torque Pro + MPG addon. My Honda SUV doesn't display MPG, and took a little adjusting profile to get basically accurate display. Though these built-in MPG ratings were never very accurate in vehicles? - Dutch_12078Explorer IIIAmazon and eBay list several different Bluetooth OBD2 adapters starting at just a few dollars. There are also a number of different OBD2 apps available at the app stores.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIII have one.. When we got the new engine in my motor home it fired up. a bit hard (not unexpected) the first time but just fine the 2nd and purred like a kitten by the third, and 4th, and fith,, But when we got it all back together and went to move it back to the gound.... NOTHING
So i grabed my tablet and read the code.. .It directed us to one specific sensor, easily reached.. Pulled the electrical plug and re-connected a couple times (Cleaning the contacts) and turned the key.. I'm not sure the starter fully engaged before VAROOM. I mean it did not comnplete one full revolution (once that sensor was re-connected)
Great product.
NOTE: I have 3 of the OBD-II adapters.. only one works. First one I ordered did not work at all. 2nd was a warranty replacement also did not work, So I ordered a different model.. Great. - kerrlakeRooExplorerI saw this a year or so ago. Basically its a code reader with a bluetooth connection to your phone. The fact that it connects to the phone is the only real difference. Yes it will read the codes and the folks that have developed the software may have made it somewhat more user friendly and the terminology may be simpler for non mechanics so from that perspective it is an upgrade over a basic unit for some folks.
Having either version of these types of tools is great in that they will guide you on what is really wrong with your vehicle.
I carry a basic one I got on Amazon for about $35 and it has paid for itself many times over, not only with my vehicles but for others.
