I'm on chat right now trying a Murrieta CA address for LA locals. Nothing is working and I'm not sure the clerk knows what she's doing as she keeps avoiding questions. If I can get LA locals I may never have to do this again as I think that spot beam is quite large.
I also believe you will be able to get the LA channels throughout the USA as I don't think they are on a spot beam since they are part of the DNS package for those of us that subscribe to DNS. Your biggest problem will be if you have equipment failure and need replacement - they will want to send it to your LA address and you will play h*ll explaining why they shouldn't!!! Don't ask how I know!! :B
So glad you got your problem solved!
Yes the LA spot beam is large covering parts of Northern CA, NV and AZ.
The LA spot beam and locals do not include the rest of the US. DNS (Distant Network Services) which includes the LA and NY national programs only and is nation wide. DNS is for mobile and requires documentation, extra charges, etc. And if you live in a area with no locals then DNS is a option as that is the only way you can get the national programs.
With DNS you may/may not be able to get locals for say Chicago. There have been posts on this and other considerations.
