Oh Lucky Me!

My Samsung has to be renamed Samsang

Until I do something about a battery. It's an ATT S2.

Sucker eats battery power like a chipmunk eats almonds. The so called high capacity battery seems like adding 5 lbs of air pressure to a 15 PSI tire.

So I guess I need to get two batteries. One original so that the new USB connected 1,0000,0,00000 mah auxiliary battery does not get eaten by an "old" battery, right?

Since I am dealing with Herb Tarlek grade integrity on Amazon or eBay is honest "lots of power", all about price? Having a battery pack with cable umbilical is preferable to dropping a call with my cardiologist while waiting for a bus.

  • Still would appreciate personally acquainted with recommendations for a TRUE 11,000 mah separate rechargeable lithium brick.
  • I have given the gizmo a double dose of the salts and a triple dose of castor oil. I have whats app and the battery saver app and cleaner app. When using the bus in San Diego I often go 11-12 hours without a recharge source. Looks like an external battery pack is in the works. I want a good one for under 50 dollars if possible. Charge my NOOK too.

Some of you have to remember my oft stated admission, I have been out of the battery business for 26-years. I'm so old, dirt, points and giggles...

    This.
X2. DW constantly complained about battery drain. Sure enough, tons of background apps running. Turn off notifications too. Apps - free or paid, can only drain your battery if your settings allow them to, and they usually are defaulted to those best suited for the app.
  • How many apps have you downloaded?

They SUCK power like nobodies business. They run in the foreground and background all day long. AND they EAT data while they do it.

I bought a new phone and did not add one app to it. I got back 1/3 of my data that apps where using and the battery lasts for days now.

There is a reason many apps are for free. They eat the data and the consumer has to buy bigger data plans from their provider. :W
  • My S4 would last days when I first got it, a few years later it couldn't make it a day on stand by. A 10,200 ma external with a 1a, 1a and 2.5a usb keeps all of my portable devices going, even the windows tablet.

A smaller 2600 ma external with just a 1a usb can't run the phone and charge the battery too but it will extend the run time of a charged phone.

Batteries for Phones have a life span, about 2-3 years, then they need replacement, this is why they are going more and more to non-replacable batteries, So you have to buy a new phone every 2 years.

Batteries Plus has batteries, often at a decent price, though I'm a bit concerned about how long They last (Seem to not last as long as OEM's)

Or you can get another Samsung battery.
  • Hey Mex, how about an EXTERNAL battery pack??? I got one of these for my Droid, works great - uses standard AA or AAA batteries. Not sure if you could use rechargables in it - might be worth checking with them.

I'm amazed that a battery expert like you would have to ask such a question in the first place. ;)

How about some specifics, like in your normal daily use, how long does the battery last ? And does it show a full charge after being charged overnight ??

Seems like I remember that LI batteries internal resistance goes UP as it ages and if that's true you shouldn't have to worry about it sapping energy from a bridged pack.
