- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IISo are the Wal-Mart threads. Doesn't help after a time but there they are!
- 2oldmanExplorer IIHey, the latest GUN thread is still going.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIDid anyone read the post where the OP said, Thanks! We need a new TV!
Threads get closed for less reasons than that! I am pretty sure they figure it out. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIModern TV's are ATSC compliant, (American Television Standards Committee) these TVs can pick up DIGITAL over the air broadcast signals And though there are still a very few analog stations out there (They can also pick up analog) they are few and far between.
Older TVs may be marked "Digital" but this is QAM,, A cable TV digital standard,m NOT ATSC.. Of course All TVs get NTSC (Never Twice Same Color... er, National Television Standards Committee) but that is the old analog standard.
A digital converter (Round about 50 or less) Radio shack among other sources) is all that's needed to fix. - Chris_BryantExplorer IIThere were a lot of HD televisions built without the atsc tuner. You can add one of those tuner/dvr boxes pretty cheap.
- 2oldmanExplorer III guess in this case HD means 'heavy duty'
- rv4jimnmeExplorerok thanks so much! figured it out,,,, it goes to the dump

hubbie wanted to watch some college games in san diego but the t,v, that came with this rig won't pull in anything from antenna, no cable available here...any secrets?
What year is your RV? Is the TV original to the coach or has it been updated? Have you been able to use it in the recent past? - RoyBExplorer IIYou will need a HDTV Set that picks up DIGITAL TV SIGNALS. All of the NATL BROADCAST TV stations have gone to digital high defination TV now...
I carried all of my old analog TV sets to the local dump when the NATL BROADCAST went to digital HDTV mode. Replaced the old heavy analog TVs with a lightweight VIZIO Flat screen HDTV setup..
We get lots of digital HDTV signals from the local towns using our UHF BATWING OTA antenna on the roof of our trailer.
The digital high def TV signals coming from the local towns is very high quality TV signals... Even better than the standard signal formats coming from SAT TV and most analog type signals at the camp ground cable setups...
Go pick up a 20-inch VIZIO HDTV from WALMART for around $150 and plug it in...
National Broadcast HDTV signals are free to the public... No contracts...
Try it all out at home first to figure out how to use your crank-up BATWING UHF antenna on your trailer...
Roy Ken - MrWizardModeratorwhat do you mean by old
if this is a tube type with pre digital broadcast analog tuner, it can't receive digital tv
you will need a converter box , or a new tv
