I didn't mean to indicate I was looking to fabricate a permanent mount. I stated I was going for another option rather than it sitting on the ground or tripod. A quick release ladder mount sometimes provides for better satellite reception over bushes and smaller trees. Other portable dishes, like the tailgater, sell ladder mounts for them. I have yet to see anyone selling a mount for the Pathway X2, which is why I asked.
Winegard knows that a "temporary" mount has a tendency to become permanent. Then when the antenna becomes inoperable due to being left on this "temporary" mount during transit and returned for warranty repair, it has to deny coverage and loose a customer. So the easiest way to control warranty expense and customer satisfaction in the first place is to not offer a "temporary" ladder/roof mount. I worked for a very large multi-national company and these type of decisions are made to account for any circumstance that could cost the company money or product liability/customer satisfaction.
