Paying shipping 3 times to return an item!

Even the very liberal return policy of L.L. Bean subtracts the price of return shipping from your refund. This is just the downside of buying on the internet instead of in person. I bought a fresh water pump that didn't fit. Saved about $20 buying on the internet but spent $14 on shipping to return it. BTW it was the model number recommended by Shurflo but i still paid return shipping. Then I went out and bought another locally and it still didn't fit. Of course I paid $50 more than the internet price, but I can return it without a shipping charge. That's just the way the life is; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I just lost this one. Maybe I'll win next time.

You didn't order based on what the package said because you did not have it when you ordered! You ordered based on what CW's online ad stated which clearly stated the dimensions and need to verify. CW did their part correctly. What exactly did you want CW to do differently prior to your order?

In any event I find this policy much the same at most online vendors. Most have a stated policy that return shipping is not provided. There are exceptions made for a defective product. In your case the item was not defective but wrong part ordered. If your dimensions fall between the two meaning either CW or the manufacture are incorrect in their listings then perhaps you have a valid reason to request it paid for.

What is CW's policy regarding ordering something online and returning/exchanging at a local CW store? Is that possible?

I wasn't sure where to post it, but yes that does sound like a better place. I was hoping for some resolution with a customer service Representative and not to be harassed by fellow users, trying to prove me as the one who is wrong with out knowing what happened. I have been buying online for the last 15 years and have never had a problem returning a product or exchanging it or a full refund. I get that I might in some cases depending on the reason have to pay shipping back but never 3 times. Consumers can return products for many reasons, the point being i wasn't happy with the product. To answer the question asked earlier, I did in fact measure it. Ordered what I thought would fit the best; and maybe mine is in between listed sizes. I in fact got it on but had to really fight with it, and it looked like it would probably get damage very quickly being stretched so tight. The other AC has the solar panel on top and I figured the sharp edges on it would end up destroying very quickly. The next cover size up in length is almost 4 inches longer but I hope with the draw sting it will work out.
Sorry to bother everyone, I was upset with the response from customer service and should have just called back and asked for a supervisor. Have a great evening...

Shouldn't this rant be in the Camping World forum? This is not related to the club.

You have it right. And in a case such as this, Amazon would indeed eat the loss. Like you said. That's customer service.

Did you measure your A/C Unit?

Did you order the one with the correct dimensions?

Is the one you ordered based on those dimensions not the correct one?

Or did you order the wrong one (item #56326) based on it fits 'Mach I' but it wasn't right size because you didn't measure?

Besides you would NOT know what was on packaging/box until you got it.
So which dimensions did you use to order......measurements you took of your A/C or none and just ordered from website because it stated 'fits Mach I'?
