It quite possible that the new receiver is simply not compatible with your antenna. Many of the older antennas required that the receiver have a low speed data port and none of the new receivers have this option. You need to contact KVH and give them your exact antenna model and serial number and let them know exactly what changes you have made. They should be able to provide you with the information you need to determine if you antenna will work or if it needs a major update.
Some of the newer ones have a usb port than can be used as the low speed. Need a USB- RS232 adapter and an adapter from 9 pin to RJ22. There is a post on here I put up the diagram. I just used it this weekend...
