Replacement laptop battery options...?

Toshiba Satellite laptop about 8 years old, work fine but need new battery. New Toshiba brand cost about $75 but I see off-brand types for half price and less.

I do not need massive unplugged power duration and am wondering if I can go with the less expensive models.

Opinions?

Thanks.

  • I have two 6 year old laptops that could use new batteries. I have looked at Amazon and Ebay. Ebay offers some less expensive options, but I like Amazon's review/ratings. 4+ Star products only and lots of reviews has rarely let me down, so that's worth paying a little more for. Should be under $20.

$75 is not worth it to me on a laptop that old. Is it running Windows XP? I'd save another $100 and get a cheap Chromebook which would probably be significantly faster and have much better battery life.
  • I've been using third party replacement batteries, but always choose the better ones that have two year warranty. Tried a cheaper one once, bad results. But the two year warranty ones have lasted well and performed admirably, at about 50% of the OEM price. The better ones are made in Taiwan of Japan, as opposed to China.
  • WOW what are the odds? That is exactly what I have. I'm on 3rd battery. Second battery was off brand. Didn't last long. Back to (just turned computer over) back to Toshiba model PA3727U-18rs but only get about hour and 1/2 before I have to plug back in.

Also couple skiu numbers 6027b0063804 and D8200074By?

Price of these batteries not good, but some people can't even get a replacement. At least that is what I was told. And I'll believe about anything when it come to hi-tech stuff.

Wives computer has cheap replacement and works good but different brand.
  • I've ordered several laptop batteries from Amazon.com. Never had a problem with any of them. Just do a search on laptop name, model #, and "battery."
