Satelite signal

Not my first rodeo but I am stumped.
Set up my new to me satellite tripod and dish this morning. Used a satellite finder and got the satellite almost immediately had signal strength of 97 at the satellite receiver. Unhooked the satellite finder put barrel connector in its place and no signal to receiver thought I might have moved dish replaced barrel connector with satellite finder back to 97 strength tried again with different barrel connector same thing. Anybody have any ideas on what is going on?
Thanks
Tyrone

  • Several have suggested that I have the wrong satellite. I did say that I had 97 signal strength but what I failed to say is that with the satellite finder hooked up not only I am getting 97 signal strength but also all of my programing. So in that case it has to be the correct satellite correct?
Again my only issue is that when I take the satellite finder out of the loop and replace it with a connector I loose signal to the receiver with the satellite finder in line every thing works correctly.
Big Katuna thanks will check that out.

You might have found wrong satellite

Yep, lots of satellites up there and it appears the one you found is not the one your receiver wants. Those little cheap satellite finders are next to useless. As 2oldman said, use the satellite receiver or get a good finder like a Birddog.
  • Or the Copper signal wire is too short; works with one female but not the next.
