Travler problems?----8 November SOLVED Bill.Satellite Note

We've been in Mexico for 2.5 months with no DirecTV coverage. We're back in Tucson. I've reactivated the receiver, done resets, etc. Travler found most channels fine. Today it seems some are missing. I've had travler re scan and it improved. Of what we watch, DNS NBC East is the only one missing, I think. If it is, no big deal.

Here are my DirecTV numbers. The question is are these ok? If not, what should I do?

99ca 56
99cb 64
99 s 0
101 96
103s 0
103ca 0
103cb 0
110 0
119 80

Thanks!
  • Either your antenna is partially blocked by a pole or tree or you have an issue with the antenna itself. The LNB could have gone bad but you are getting just about NO service from the 99 and 103 LNB's. The 101 LNB is fine and the signal right about where it should be. That's why you are getting SD but not HD. HD is broadcast on the 99 and 103 satellites while SD comes from 101.
Ignore numbers from 99(s) and 103(s) as these are spot beamed transponders and rarely show any signal.
  • Thanks!

Note: my setup has worked for years and nothing changed except we had no coverage in Mexico for 2.5 months. As stated earlier, I did reauthorize or whatever they call it. It was set on 18, SL5S(SWM)

I'm not getting HD (get a 771 error) on 230(DIY); 277(Travel); 392(NBC East). I DO get SD on all these.

I changed it as suggested to #17 and get red x's in all but both 101s. 101=95; 99ca=53; 99cb=58; 99s=43. I still don't have the HD's for the above channels.

PS: I tried #8 and got same thing (plus the 119)

    Again, thanks!

Edit: if it helps, here are the transponders with a 0:
    101: 4, 12, 18, 26, 28
    99CA: 16, 21
    99S: 2, 4, 5-8, 16, 19-24
    99CB: all ok
    103S: all 0 except 18
    103CA: odd's 0
    103CB: odd's 0
  • The 99 and 103 numbers are very bad but 101 is very good. Have you set your receiver to show both SD and HD channels to see if the missing channels are available in SD? If not, give it a try and I suspect you will find that they show up. As mentioned above you also need to set the receiver to the correct antenna type. The new Trav'ler with built in SWM uses antenna type 17 and SWM. The older non-SWM or a non-SWM converted to SWM 8 will use that or a different SWM setup (antenna type 8 if IIRC).
  • It looks like your receiver may have the wrong antenna selected (5 LNB). You should only be getting the 99, 101 and 103. Your receiver should be set for the 3 LNB antenna. It should be 3 LNB SWM if you have a SWM set up.
