TurboTax Registration Form

I could not find an answer on TurboTax website so I will ask my RV "experts".

Is there a way to prevent TurboTax from showing the registration screen ever time I open the program short of completing the registration form? . . .:h

I assume I could but "garbage" in the form.

Go to edit...select forms...select personal info form and scroll down. It's there if you want to fill it in. When letting the program ask for info I have never been asked for that but I don't always use that method. I go directly to "forms" and fill in the forms as needed.
  • Never been asked for DL number on TT. At the vet clinic, yeah.
  • Never had a problem with Intuit. They will send you an email trying to sell you next years program but that's about all I ever receive from them.
When filling out personal info sheet in program I leave drivers license info blank. With all the info on your return PLUS your drivers License, someone would have everything they need to assume your identity.
    Been there!!!

I assume that you bought your copy of TT at a store, and didn't download it from Intuit. (Hopefully, you bought your copy SOMEWHERE, didn't you? ;))

If you bought it from a store and really don't want to give Intuit information on yourself, then give the form false info.

I purchased from a store. I do have an email address that I never use except when a web site requires an email. Over the last few months somehow this "never used" email has been receiving 10's of spam email each day. Clearly some website I visited for information has "sold" this never used email.

I think I will make up some false information and give this to TurboTax.

TurboTax will not send you spam, or sell your info.

Come to think about it, if you're that concerned about giving any personal info to Intuit, you better not E-File anything -- because that means Intuit will be holding copies of all your tax forms!

    This.

I've never had any issues with Intuit. The only thing they will do with your registration info is 1) Let you download the software again if you need to, which is helpful and 2) send you a reminder email when the next year's version is available.
  • Nope. If you're running the software, rather than TT Online, you can't get past that form and jump right into the Interview.

If you downloaded it from an Intuit account, too late -- they've already gotten your credit card.

The same is true when you pay for Audit Protection or E-Filing a State form -- you've got to give them a credit card, even if it's a pre-paid one (if, again, you're really trying to stay off the grid).

Come to think about it, if you're that concerned about giving any personal info to Intuit, you better not E-File anything -- because that means Intuit will be holding copies of all your tax forms!
