The biggest problem with Smart TVs in my mind is the software sucks - slow, not well designed, just not a good experience. Multi-faceted consumer hardware companies tend to do hardware well, but do software miserably. I'll take a Roku over a Smart TV any day.

I use ChromeCast on my Android with decent park Wi-Fi to watch a few shows every month (5per month) but for computer TV..I am thinking I'd like a slice of PI..Rasperberry Pi to be precise

This is a real device, demo'd at tradeshows and everything. As other posters pointed out, Google's on the MEE-TOO band wagon for pluggable computers.

Fizz's solution is the best if you have the tech know-how. A "Pi" is cheap, with a case, wifi and a logitech wireless keyboard + touchpad it costs under $50, plus it runs real linux - if you dont like how something works, you can change it.

It's not an April Fool's joke. Google has a good sense of humor and there's nothing humorous or implausible about this device.

Or you can get a little Windows 8.1 tablet for $100 and plug that into the TV. Chrome tablets are also available for about $100.

You're right.
If you look at the video you can eventualy see the micro USB port on the side. Probably connected to a charger that is larger than the gizmo itself.

I would rather go with the Raspberry 2, much more versatile.

As the article in the link states, it's like the new Intel Windows stick or the Android sticks that have been available for awhile. What's new is that it runs Chrome OS.

One thing not mentioned in the article or video, the device needs to get power from somewhere so will need a power connection as well.
