TV Coax Woes

I need help!! I haven't been able to receive a signal from my wineman antenna. I read the antenna tune up and followed the instructions, but have not gotten anywhere with it.
Here's what I have so far:
Signal booster unit is OK. It has 12 volts coming out. I checked with a pigtail coax.
I ran a jumper coax from antenna side of power unit to antenna, to eliminate any problems with it. I was able to locate 15 channels, so I know the antenna is OK.
I am not getting any voltage at the connection coming out of the rooftop antenna, so I took the handle off and fished the coax out of the ceiling, broke apart the joint and checked the coax from the ceiling. No voltage there.
I replaced the coax connector on the antenna coax coming out of the wall, then checked the end coming out of the ceiling. Nothing. I'm stumped now. I tugged the wall/ceiling coax from both directions to see if I could pull another coax attached to one end or another, but it appears to be anchored somewhere in the wall or ceiling somewhere.
Any suggestions?
  • If you have 12V coming out of the Winegard power supply but no 12V power at the head of the Winegard there are only 2 possible reasons. The most likely is that you have the wrong cable connected to the power supply and the second most likely is that you have a bad connection between the power supply and the Winegard. Depending upon how close to the TV tower you are located, you might be able to scan 15 channels with nothing but a coax connected to the TV.
If you have no 12V power in the coax at the head of the Winegard antenna, your antenna is not "working". It's not even in use.
You need to be able to trace each coax line and find the origin and termination point of each. If you do not have the tools to do so you can make one or you can take it to a dealer to trace down the correct cables and get them to their assigned locations.
  • I have a 2005 Dutchmen TT. All three coaxes coming off the power booster plate go in the same direction, but the connector for cable connection is in the other direction. Both the power booster plate and the antenna are located on the driver's side of the unit, yet the coax in the ceiling that the antenna mast joins with seems to be coming from the center of the camper. I'm baffled. I was considering running another run of coax but not if I cant attach it to the one running from the PB to the antenna.
  • Probably want to have the moderator post your question in a different forum where more viewers will get to see it and possibly help you out. Suggest you contact the moderator and have her post it in a more suitable forum.
  • What kind of rig? Sounds like you are on the right track, if it ain't got power, it ain't gonna work, and odds are that it doesn't get any signal through either. Do you have one small coax from the antenna head to the base or roof, connected to the in-coach coax?? I had a problem with that connection, the center wire of the coax corroded and broke up in the connector. Finally replaced with a waterproof connection which worked, then traded rig.
