Verizon Jetpack
Does anyone have any real world experience with the Verizon Jetpack? We want dependable connectivity on the road and already are contracted with Verizon on the phones.

I actually work in the industry. I noticed my useage for my wife and I never went over 3.5GB in January/February 2012. Accessing the same sites in 2013 I was up to 8GB in three weeks. Only change on our part was going from an Unlimited Data plan to shared 6GB plan. Same users same sites. I am cognisant of what constitutes data useage and didn't see any significant changes in use. Only variable is how Verizonwireless measures data useage.
some apps will detect data speeds and adjust data rates. Netflix is one. so on 3G you will use less data than with 4G since it gives you higher resolution, hence higher data rate, if it sees 4G. Likewise with many other apps, especially video apps.
I had the 6G shared plan for years and when we added our jetpack, with similar usage, data use stayed basically the same. Only time I've noticed a difference is when we use video streaming. One solution is to go to netflix and select the lower data rate rather than having it decide for you. Same with some other apps where you can force a certain max data rate.
