Verizon Jetpack

Does anyone have any real world experience with the Verizon Jetpack?
We want dependable connectivity on the road and already are contracted with Verizon on the phones.
  • I also have had great service with ours. After upgrading to 4G we noted our use went from never going over 3.5GB to 8GB is three weeks and climbing. Switched to Millenicom at that point. Have never checked data useage on Millenicom.
  • Love mine! I got it on the pay-per-month plan, so when we are not on the road, it cost nothing. When we get ready to go, I just pay for another month, and we are ready to go. I use the $60/month plan, which is just about what we use. Works good for us, because there is no roll-over, and the plan expires at the end of the month or usage, whichever happens first.
  • Funny you should ask. I recently downgraded our phones from an unlimited data plan where I was hard pressed to use 3GB a month via a hot spot on my phone to a share everything plan including a jetpack. Here i am 20 days in and have already used up over 5GB with the jet pack. I am not sure if Verizon is padding the data or what but I am not a happy camper. Get the Millenicom service. At least with them you get 20GB a month for 60 dollars.

I have been using the Verizon 2200 MIFI stand alone unit for over five years now with no problems whatsoever. The JETPACk uses the same MIFI units...

My Verizon plan is the older 3GB well secured dataplan which works great for us to pay bills online, check our emails, chat with the kids, and do some WEB searches. All of our devices that have WIFI capability logs in just fine. If you want to get into using more data I suggest the MILLENICOM 20GB plan that uses the VERIZON NETWORK would be the way to.

Like said above... If you get Verizon Cell Phone service you will get Verizon Internet connections.

  • I have used it all over the US and even a bit in Canada with zero problems. If you have cell service you have internet. Speed depends on how close to a tower you are. I also use a Wilson Sleek booster with it when we have marginal cell service. I have the share plan with several devices sharing the data.
  • There have been several different devices with the generic "Jetpack" label from Verizon. So you should use the actual model number to be specific.
My 4620L has worked perfectly for over a year on both 3G and 4G in many different areas, and I'm very happy with it. But I have read many online reports where others have had issues with the 4620 going dormant and not reconnecting on demand. Not sure if those are hardware issues, user issues or tower issues, since mine never experienced any similar issues.
My one caution, depending on your previous 4G use, be prepared for your monthly data usage to increase significantly. The 5 gig monthly Verizon limit used to be way more than enough to cover my frequent internet use for the years I was limited to 3G. Now that I frequently get 4G coverage, my monthly data volume has actually approached the 20 gig limit of my Millenicom plan. I don't feel like my usage has changed that much, but the numbers say it has.
  • We too use one and have ZERO issues with it!! We just upgraded to the 4G plan and can link up to 10 computers to it at once.. I am sure that if several are hooked up that it will slow...In my eyes , you cannot beat Verizon's Service area.....Joe - -JMO
  • Have one. Works fantastic, especially when in an area with LTE coverage. OCCASIONALLY, it will lock up and require a restart, but you can configure it to restart itself as desired.
