VPN Shut Down my Internet

Have you experienced any throttling or total bandwidth limitations? I could be using anywhere from 1 GB to 100GB per month, depending on pricing. Do they have an "unlimited" plan?

I've been using tunnelbear for about 2 years. It doesn't have as extensive an amount of countries as some of the other Vpn's. I believe it's around 20, but I usually stick with the US or Canada. I've noticed no discernible slowdown while it's in operation, but takes a little time to initially load at startup. Not too extensive though.

There's no limit to the amount of GB's you use. It's also simple to operate. No need to be a techie. You'll also enjoy the cute little bears running around. LOL. Pricewise, it's reasonable for a yearly subscription, around $5.00/month.

Thanks for that, ed. It sounds like it might work for us, when we get ourselves parked down south next winter.

I connect with no problem to Amazon through my tunnelbear VPN, using Edge browser.

i have been considering a VPN and doing some reading
one thing i did was purchase a Gl-iNet 'Mango' mini router (mini size) maximum features
it has 'open VPN' in the router, so you can use vpn on the router and NOT have to install VPN on all your devices, as i understand it once you log into the router you download the client for whichever VPN you have

i'm still reading reviews and trying to figure out which service to try

Some websites (Amazon for example) refuse to connect through the VPN so I use MS Edge for those sites but I lose the advantages of having a VPN. My subscription to PIA VPN is about to run out. I have to reset the connection multiple times per day, so I’m looking around for a different VPN. I can get by without one at home, but having one is a must on the the road. NordVPN is one of the ones I was considering.

I used a VPN for work through AT&T for 13 years with no major issues. The commercial VPN products have been around a long time and work well. It's the consumer grade VPNs that have issues. The commercial ones are just expensive.

I haven't had good luck with VPN's either ... they are notoriously famous for slowing your internet connection with your ISP, but sometimes mine has shut down too. My last try was with Bitdefender with the random VPN protocol (& paid). With so many devices in the home needing internet access none of the VPN providers can keep up.

My thinking is it's just not ready for prime time. A good solution, but lacking in refinement. I'm now back to strict firewall protection and no VPN until they can get their act together.
