Maybe, I don't own one. I was posting a link to their site. It may work like my Vulkano (video streaming like Sling). It's not physically connected to my network at home, but works remotely. It can use wifi or a network cable to stream locally or remotely.

A 'cloud' is not WiFi, it's the new buzzword for where to keep or transport things.

I have the 4TB My Book Duo shown on the website, set up for Raid 1. It's plugged into the router and backs up my Mac, and a separate 750GB drive of pix. I can also browse and contribute to those pix from my iPhone (the 'cloud')

Mebbe those cute little white ones do what you want, but the big ones do not

I don't think it works wirelessly. I think the only way it works wirelessly is if it hooked up to a wireless router. Here's a quote:

Notice that it specifies that you plug into your wireless router.

I use mine for a back up primarily. I do get an e-mail after a power outage telling me that service to my MyBook was interrupted.

I never pursued using it as a cloud service like I thought I would. I think I tried but the interface wasn't user friendly. Maybe it was too slow, I can't remember.

Basically, my MAC gets backed up to it every night through my wifi network. I guess I could back up the net book or the kids Droid tablets, but hey, we don't use them enough to matter. All of our important stuff goes on our Apple devices and gets backed up through the MAC to it. That seems to work well.

I forget what all is shared on it, but theoretically, I could go to it wirelessly and pull my photos or music to other devices. Its much easier to synch the Apple stuff through the iTunes synch process, so why bother, I guess.

Ours is connected to her big computer by ethernet cable.

One drive or only one device? I don't mind that each device would only back up one drive but the point would be to be able to back up multiple devices without effort.

I thought that you have to connect it to the router, using CAT 5 cable, no ? Then you access it with other computers, wire or wireless. Correct me if I am wrong.

Very slow.
