I also have poor hearing. I use a set of Sony wireless headphones that allow me to hear without blasting those around me. When I replaced the TV in my RV a couple of years ago I made sure that it had audio out connectors to attach the headphones without muting the normal audio for others watching. Also, some TVs will allow you change viewing angle from standing, normal, or lay back mode in the setup menu which improves the image depending on where the TV is mounted. I also chose one that although it plugs into 120VAC, the power was converted into 12VDC before entering the set. I replaced the 120VAC cord that had the 12VDC adapter with a single 12VDC line tied to a 12VDC source in the RV. This will allow you to use the set without needing an inverter when you don't have electrical hook ups as tenbear mentioned. At the time that I purchased mine several Samsung units had these features but there are probably others out there as well. Good luck on your hunt.
